This page gives overall advice on how to assemble all three types of XCVR V1 boards. There are minimal differences between F4, F4Lite, and F1 (original blue).
These kits are not available fully-unassembled, so it’ll look something like this:
Not much remains to be soldered. SCSI connector, Berg Floppy power connector, the Fuse, LED and Termination headers, and the Microcontroller Module.
The SCSI connector should be the first thing you attach! One side of the connector has a notch – this side faces “up”. “Up” meaning the side of the PCB where all the components are.
Notice that little hook at the bottom of where the SCSI connector goes? Put the SCSI connector there at the edge, with legs straddling the PCB, and the hook will stop it from sliding off that end.
Flux is very strongly recommended for attaching the SCSI connector, as it will help the solder flow properly into place.
Put the USB port of the microcontroller at the end indicated by the arrow, or your device will not work.
See the product’s page for an image of the device when fully soldered.
